Embarking Crew was created to simplify cruise recruitment. We are not a recruitment agency — we are an independent platform designed to connect verified cruise professionals with trusted employers. Our goal is to make hiring faster, safer, and more transparent for everyone. Crew members can create professional profiles, showcase their experience, and apply for opportunities with confidence. Employers can discover qualified candidates, verify essential information, and recruit more efficiently. We believe the best hiring happens when both sides have access to the same trusted platform, built on transparency, professionalism, and mutual respect.
To be clear: Embarking Crew is not a crewing or manning agency, and we don't hold a recruitment or placement license. We are a technology platform that connects the two sides — nothing more, nothing less. We don't recruit on behalf of crew and we don't represent employers; we build the place where they find each other. That distinction is deliberate. It's what lets us stay in the exact middle of this relationship instead of drifting toward either side.
It would be easy to build this as a platform for crew that merely tolerates employers, or the other way around. We don't think that works. If crew stop trusting the platform, employers lose access to good candidates. If employers stop trusting it, crew lose access to real jobs. A marketplace only stays strong when both sides trust the referee equally — so Embarking Crew sets clear rules, verifies information where it can, and gives both sides the tools they need, without favoring either one. The goal is simple: crew can find work faster, safer, and more easily, and cruise lines can find crew faster, safer, and more easily — a platform that didn't exist before, built to make both sides' lives easier and more trustworthy at the same time.
Ask almost any cruise ship crew member and they'll have a story: an "agency" that asked for money upfront, a job that turned out not to exist, a contract that didn't match what they were promised. The cruise and maritime hiring world runs largely through scattered Facebook groups, word of mouth, and agencies with no accountability — and scammers know it. There's rarely a way to check if a company is actually who they say they are, or if the crew who worked there before you were treated fairly.
Two things, each solving a different side's problem:
Searching, applying, and messaging employers is free — permanently. We don't charge job seekers, and we never will. Employers pay to post; that's simply how the money should flow in a hiring relationship, not a statement about whose platform this is.
Crew Bar lets crew talk to each other in real time — ask questions, compare notes, connect — the way you'd ask a friend who's already been on a ship, not a stranger in a Facebook group of thousands.
If you're crew: applying is direct and honest, and you'll never be asked to pay a cent to find your next job. If you're an employer: you can find candidates who verified their own information, on a platform that isn't trying to make you look bad to do it. Being fair, transparent, and reliable to both sides is a harder thing to build than any single feature — and a harder thing for anyone else to copy.
